We want to train pilots to excellence- pilots who can safely and confidently take friends and family flying, and pilots who have the solid foundation to move on to instrument and commercial flight training. This brings about the question: What makes a great pilot?
Pilots can be measured in three areas:

  • Stick and rudder skills- the ability to control the airplane with smoothness and precision;
  • Knowledge- of systems, equipment, navigation, instruments, weather, and many other subjects;
  • Judgment- the decision making skills necessary to avoid risk and/or deviate to avoid unsafe situations.
Kampala Aeroclub's flight training is focused to help develop a pilot's stick and rudder skills. We develp pilot's knowledge and judgment through groundschool, examples, reading, and so on. We have put together a CD with many training materials, articles, and so on, that we give to our new pilots for training. Some of this CD is also available here online for convenience:
