Kampala Aeroclub's owners and directors are Jeremy McKelvie and Russell Barnes. Jeremy and Russ combined have over 30 years experience flying around Uganda and surrounding regions. This experience helps us serve our customers well and helps us smoothly overcome the little challenges that come along with operating in the third world.
Jeremy McKelvie
Jeremy has been flying in the ugandan bush for 20 years.
Prior to starting the aeroclub with Russ Jeremy was a training captain for Mission Aviation Fellowship, teaching pilots new to Ugandan flying and improving thier bush flying skills.
He conducts all of our new pilot transition training as well, which includes
checkouts at all of our airstrips. Training with Jeremy involves
extensive work on precision landings, emergency procedures, and bush flying.
Jeremy is a perfectionist during this training and his high
standards ensure that all pilots at the aeroclub are well prepared for
flying in Uganda.
Russell Barnes
Russ has a wide range of aviation experience, including helicopters, cropdusters, and of course african bush flying. Russ is well respected around
the aeroclub for his stick and rudder skills and his quick sense of humor. Russ is now back to his primary passion- helicopters!- and primarily flies our new Bell 206 Jetranger helicopter.
